All efforts are guided by and in adherence to the recommendations distributed by the CDC.

In adherence to the social distancing recommendations provided by the CDC, we have implemented strict protocols at our clinic to ensure the safety of our patients and staff.

  • Alternate methods of communication for other services are being vetted and may be offered when deemed clinically appropriate.

Benefits of Individual Therapy

Benefits of Individual Therapy for Opioid Abuse

An individual who is battling an addiction to opioids must overcome more than the physical dependency upon a substance or substances. There are multiple factors that contribute to an individual’s addiction to opioids, which is why comprehensive treatment must be received if lasting recovery is to occur. Individual therapy provides patients with the opportunity to address and treat the underlying causes of their addictive behaviors in order to appropriately prepare for a future that is substance-free. These sessions provide patients with the support, compassion, and education that is required in order for recovery to occur.

Individual therapy is a therapeutic method that provides patients the opportunity to work one-on-one with a highly qualified counselor in a safe and supportive environment. The following benefits are experienced by individuals who incorporate individual therapy into their treatment plans:

  • Pinpointing past events that may have aided in the development of opioid abuse in the first place
  • Developing new points of view relating to the root causes of abuse and addiction
  • Creating new ways to handle stress and negative feelings without the assistance of opioids
  • Handling setbacks and/or accomplishments in an appropriate manner throughout the course of treatment
  • Developing ways to handle future situations in which opioid use may be tempting
  • Forming personal goals for the present as well as the future

Individual therapy provides patients with a safe atmosphere in which to navigate through their behaviors, emotions, and feelings in order to gain a deeper perspective as to why they turned to opioid abuse in the first place. These sessions promote a safe and healthy relationship with our counselors who are specifically trained in the field of addiction.

Additionally, individual therapy provides patients with the following as they navigate towards recovery:

  • Increased levels of self-confidence
  • Improved self-esteem
  • A reduction in stress levels
  • An increased sense of self-awareness

These benefits can provide patients with the solid foundation that is required in order to successfully progress towards lasting recovery.

Building a Foundation

Building a Foundation for Opioid Abuse Recovery

Jackson Comprehensive Treatment Center believes that recovery from an addiction to opioids requires treatment for both the physical and emotional aspects of a patient’s addictive behaviors. While the medication-assisted treatment that we provide allows patients to experience relief from the physical symptoms of withdrawal, treatment for the underlying emotional causes of an addiction need to be treated as well. Individual therapy provides a safe environment in which to openly discuss and treat the root causes of addiction while working through any issues that may arise during the course of treatment.

If you or someone that you love is battling an addiction to opioids, please contact Jackson Comprehensive Treatment Center today. We are here to assist you in taking the first steps towards the healthy, happy, and substance-free future that you deserve to be living.
